Welcome to Reception! This year is an exciting and important beginning to our learners' full time school experience.

During the first half term we will be getting to know all our new learners. We will use this time to lay the foundations of good relationships, routines and expectations of school. We will do this by providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

Our curriculum is delivered through a mixture of learning through play, small group adult led activities and whole group learning. We have daily whole group learning based on our focussed literacy or mathematics topic. We will then follow this up by completing weekly adult led activities based on those topics. We also learn reading and writing skills through completing several sessions of phonics over the week where we will look at what letters link to what sounds and begin to read and write words and sentences.

We also support the children with developing their knowledge and understanding of the world, arts and design, fine motor skills, health and self-care skills, personal, social and emotional development.

PE is on Thursday, so our learners come to school already dressed in their PE kit on this day. Reading books are also changed on Thursdays, so we always make sure to bring these to school too.
